So...a catch-up from the weekend!

Saturday was a good day. Angela and I got to sleep in, and then we headed out to the Institute at the U of U. We made it in time for breakfast, and it was good. We saw some interesting things, and we got to sit with some friends at lunch, and also I got a line on non-traditional law practice (because, heaven help me, I don't want to work in a law firm). There were some seriously, seriously impressive women speaking no that panel - several different kinds of powerful, prestigious, and successful. After the conference, Angela and I went back to the hotel, took naps, did homework, and other random things (me mostly ficcing it up and writing some). We went out to dinner at an awesome hole-in-the-wall Greek restaurant and then went to the Gateway Mall. We'd intended to watch "Valentine's Day", but it didn't happen, and we went to see "The Blind Side" instead, which I think was the far superior choice. It was uplifting and happy and...huh.

Angela and I fell asleep talking about all the names we'd give our kids. Bizarre conversation.

We were up early on Sunday, and we were packed and dressed and making an attempt on the breakfast buffet when we saw that my sister was waiting outside the lobby. In her shiny new car. Happy Valentine's Day to my sister, indeed. Her husband was with her, and he was crazy patient. Angela and I made it through security in good time, then got breakfast. At the gate we sat around practicing for Angela's witness exam class with Melilli, which led to all kinds of bizarre conversations, like, "No, we're at stage two, and then you punch them out, and it's done," to which Angela replied, "No, you go on to stage three," to which I said, "Why would you punch them out twice? Once they're out, they're out!"

The lady beside us asked what we were doing. She looked a touch alarmed when we informed her it was for law school. I slept some, read some on the flights, and when we touched down in Omaha, I was happy. We headed down the escalator and, surprise surprise, Kent was waiting right there for us. He took us home, which was nice.

Oddly, I started to come down with a sore throat on Sunday, and it's only gotten worse. I don't have a runny nose, and I don't have a cold. Just a sore throat. We swung by the school to pick up homework, and then Kent dropped us off home. There were things waiting for me when I got home - a rose to grow on my windowsill from my friend Mal, which was a lovely birthday present (and, given who I am, is clearly the better alternative to an actual pet). I unpacked and spoke to my parents and went to bed.

Monday was a long day. Got to school in time to get a real parking spot, read for Con Law and Native American Law. Did my time in the clinic, went to class. Bolted down lunch, and then between lunch and my second dose of the clinic I worked on a settlement letter for one of my cases. I haven't written one of those things since my fall semester of second year, so I pulled up the one I used for class and cribbed off of it a whole lot. I almost lost it a few times during clinic class, falling asleep, but I learned some good civil procedure. Really - if they taught first year civ pro the way The Boss does, I might have gotten it.

After class, Jenifer and I prepped for our divorce hearing, and then I zoomed home, made bangers and mash, and then hitched a ride with the sister missionaries. Drove up to the stake center to set up chairs and things, and was a bit panicked until Levi showed up, because the game plan was his and I couldn't explain the game without him. The game was surprisingly a lot of fun, but then the gang and I ducked out of the mat ball for some WoD. We have two new mages, which is interesting, and the campaign is picking up.

I stayed up later than necessary. Especially since this morning Jenifer and I had a divorce first thing. Jenifer and I met up at the clinic, sorted the file, and Jenifer drove us over to the courthouse. Jenifer got held up at court security because she had a pen in her jacket, but then we made it up to the appropriate court and met our client. We got the paperwork signed before the boss showed up, and then Jenifer did the actual hearing (partially because she hadn't done a divorce before, and partially because as the day wore on I sounded progressively more and more like a frog). The divorce was more complicated than my first, so the Boss had to jump in a few times, but it was all right. After the divorce Jenifer and I headed back to the clinic to get the final paperwork done (I changed out of my suit) and I continued to read for Indian Law until I covered an intake shift for a friend.

First Amendment was good times, and then there was tasty soup and salad for lunch. After lunch I took a nap, and then I wrote, and then I went to class. I volunteered for a case in Native American law to get myself off the hook for a while, and then I went back to the clinic and....ohhhh. Dealt with a very rude alleged opposing counsel (he hasn't made an entry of appearance, so I don't count him). First he demanded to speak to the Boss, and then he was condescending and pushy and a know-it-all, but I was crummy for having a sore throat, so I have ti to him. After I hung up, Liz the Spanish-speaking attorney asked me who it was, and when I told her his name, she informed me that he was a jerk. I was not happy. My coworkers were pretty proud of me for holding my ground, as was The Boss. Then I went to the doctor's office, and the prognosis is...lame. A virul infection. Otherwise normal. Nothing to be done but drink lots of water. After the doctor's I came home and...wow.

There was a super huge box on my doorstep full of awesome things like new winter gear, DVDs, and Valentine's chocolate. It was like Christmas all over again.

I ran to ninjitsu after that and survived pretty well.

And now...now I am home. Watching Merlin with the cast commentary, because it's hilarious (also makes my mother think people are visiting me).

And now...now bed.

Sorry so discombobulated. Every day seems longer than the last.
