No Kinks, though. That takes some of the fun out of it.

Yesterday was an awesome day. I know I complain a lot about trial team and about how Melilli has quickly and efficiently effected a regulatory taking of my time, if not my soul, I do enjoy what I'm learning. I learned more in yesterday's training session about the mechanics of opening and closing than I thought I'd learn in years of litigation. Of course, it will take years to master it, but...I heard it. And somewhere in the back of my mind, it's sunk in.

I did homework between classes, had free pizza for lunch, and went to classes. Almost totally lost my concentration during M&D, but I think I made it through all right. Afterwards I went home and took approximately a ten minute nap before I headed to the temple. It was Emilee's first time, and I'd never thought much of it, although Abby once mentioned going through with a girl on her first time, and it was actually very, very cool. Wednesday night I'd gone grocery shopping, and Thursday morning I'd put the crock pot on to make stew, so when I got home there was beef stew, bread rolls and butter, and cream puffs for dessert. And then the sister missionaries came over, which was awesome. I don't know Sister B. very well, but I got to know her better and I like her a lot. I found out Sister M. was in the MTC at the same time as Halley, which was pretty cool. We talked, and the food was good (and no one died of poisoning), and then I called it an early night.

I was at school this morning by 6 a.m. and it was eerie, because apart from the janitorial staff, I was the only one there. Melilli was pretty okay with my closing, nicer about it than some, but then closings are so much easier than openings. I learned a lot, still, and it was good times. I'd taken some leftover stew to school with me with every intention of having lunch there, waiting till Angela was off work, and going grocery shopping with her, and then setting things up at the institute, then getting the drums back together and jamming with Will tonight after Dan's birthday party.

But then I got a message from Will who wanted to know if I was done with practice and did I have Angela's number, because he wanted to play. I informed him I'd just gotten out but Angela was at work. And then he told me he was upstairs in the library, so I went up to print some tabs for Angela, and we ended up going back to my place to have leftover stew and put the drums back together. Then Angela came over, and we went to Costco to buy lots and lots of food. They tried to give me guff about having Dad's card, but since we bought so much they let it go. (Ah, commercialism.) On the way back to the Institute, we got into a fairly heated debate about feminism, how women are (or are not) property and how when one uses the law school notion of property (i.e. rights in relation to things rather than things themselves) it may or may not (Angela and I voted not) be okay to call people property.

We got all the food into the Institute (Brother Andrus was all kinds of apologetic for not helping out more and very pleased that we're 'on top of things'; Angela and I are just doing what needs to be done), and then went back to Angela's to get her bass and one of her coolers to use for drinks. She ended up cleaning, and I ended up curled up on her papasan chair, napping while Will tuned her bass and tried out some of the tabs in the book. It was oddly peaceful, lying there, half-awake, listening to the subliminal rhythm of Angela's bass (named Sir Lancelot, in honor of her younger brother who is a bassist and named Lance), half-aware of human warmth and the calmness of not really being awake.

Then Will went back to his place, and Angela and I came back to my place to chill, and then we went back to the Institute. Nurse Nicole is the queen of mercy and made me some homemade Zucchini bread to feed the helpless and overworked law student, as it were.

And then there was the dinner. Lots of people. Lots of talking. It looked like a decent amount of mingling between lawyers and law students, although for the most part the singles hung out together while the married students talked to the married lawyers. Angela and I were the collective Horatio once everyone left, but Dan (who was celebrating his 26th birthday) and Scott (Canadian Scott, who didn't have to help at all), an older attorney from New York, the attorney chapter president Justin, and one of the professors helped a whole lot. Also Adam and his wife helped because they showed up early. I made it home about half an hour ago and my feet are killing me and it's been a long day, and I still need to rewrite my closing, but...it's been a good day.

I got to talk to Jordan, which I haven't been able to do in a while. He's such a nice guy. All of us wonder why he's not married. I'm not remotely attracted to the kid, but he's such a good guy that I'd marry him in a heartbeat and consider myself the luckiest girl in the world. I know a lot of guys like that. Sometimes I wonder if people say the same thing about me, but then I don't really consider myself a nice person.

Man, my feet hurt.

I think I might just go to sleep, get up early tomorrow and do what I need to do then.

I do write pretty decently in the morning.

To bed it is, then.
