Day 818: Be Still My Soul
Sep. 27th, 2009 07:45 pmOh, but Sundays are officially the best day of the week. Saturday was long. Four hours at Melilli's went faster than last time, but it was still pretty long. I did score some praise for a smart question, although we're still debating about whether or not it hurts either side's case theory. Afterwards I went to the mall with every intention of buying a dress to wear to Sean and Karen's wedding, but in true Nagi form I ended up buying a set of three kunai instead. They sit a lot better in my hair than plain throwing knives do, oddly enough.
I read for M&D for a couple of hours after I got home, and then Angela and I went to the General Relief Society Broadcast. There was good food beforehand - lots of homemade soup, plus cake for dessert. And then the broadcast, which was awesome. Maybe I'm just at a more mature and attentive point in my life, but I pretty much love every one of the men in the First Presidency, and I love listening to all of them speak. I got to spend some quality time with Nurse Nicole, which is awesome, because it's hard to catch up with the nurses in the ward with the crazy hours they work. She always looks happy these days, when before she looked a little grim, and now seeing her is like a ray of sunshine in my day. After I dropped Angela off, I finished my M&D reading, wrote my case analysis for Juvie Law, and then Daniel was awesome and helped me memorize stuff for trial team. Because Melilli wanted stuff memorized for Monday. Figures. I was up ridiculously late with him memorizing stuff, but he was such a good sport about it. Best little brother a girl could ask for, I say.
And today - today was just awesome. I got to sleep in, which was pretty awesome, and I had two of the best lessons in the world. Sunday School with Sister Evans was full of history, which I love, and then Alisa proved that she and her brother come from a family of awesome teachers. Just wow. I got to ride to and from church with Korina, which is great, because I don't see enough of that girl in my life. When I got home, I set to baking, and neighbor Stacey was awesome enough to give me milk for mini-muffins, and then my home teachers came.
I've just got to say that I know some of the best young men in the world. Hanging around Med Student Stephen always makes me feel better - the guy's like a blast of sunshine. And Dentist Paul is a funny, quirky guy. I'm looking forward to getting to know both of them better. Both of the Daves are such cool guys, and hanging around law student Zach is full of laughter and smiles. Korina and I went to break the fast, and we hitched a ride home with a girl named Ashley, who is Will's neighbor, it would seem. I got to talk to Mom on the phone, and she helped me memorize some more for trial team, which is quite the way to put a damper on a Sunday, but I love her and it was good talking to her.
I also found out that Law Student Zach plays the piano and violin on top of being a fantastic singer. And Dental Student Dave plays the guitar.
Wow.
I made some more mini-muffins for Institute this Tuesday - strawberry this week, apple next week, I think - and I sang the entire time. It seems the only songs I sing well acapella are hymns. Singing them while I worked just made me happy. I can see why songs can be prayers.
At any rate - I need to refrigerate those muffins, do some dishes, and write some letters.
