Day 769: Ruby Tuesday
Jun. 2nd, 2009 11:35 pmSo today was an all right day. It started off sorta lame because the weather was full of grey and cloudy, and when the weather is full of grey and cloudy it feels as if my head is full of cotton. I worked as best as I could and finished the memo on my client intake, did some research on eyewitness ID, drafted my query letter, and then trolled through a series of cases on eyewitness ID. I think I might go back to some Beatrice 6 stuff tomorrow - who knows. I have to deliver something to my boss.
Grades for the 1Ls came out today, and well...the corner was sort of like the kiss and cry at the Olypmics. Two of my friends were very, very unhappy with their grades, and I felt awful, because I didn't know what to do to help them. I did my best to sympathize (which I'm bad at) and to try to help a little with the system-bashing (similar to boy-bashing, but directed at the academically-sanctioned hazing ritual that is law school instead of the unfortunate bearers of Y Chromosomes), but in the end I had to work and my GPA did not entirely endear me to them at that moment. They ended up taking themselves to The Upstream for some cheer-up food and awesome root beer. Jenny was kind enough to bring back some root beer for me, and then we indulged in gallows humour and I showed off my vast and pathetic knowledge about Japanese ritual suicide.
I came home and had a surprising amount of fun semi-cooking. I call it semi-cooking because nothing was actually cooked, but everything for tomorrow night's dinner is prepared, so all I have to do is put stuff in the oven and call it good. I called my Mom on Skype, and we talked while she talked me through cooking. It was fun, as if she was in the kitchen with me teaching me how to cook. I had to take a short detour to get some sour cream, but otherwise it was pretty freakin' fun. I also went to belly dancing for the first time in almost two months, which was nice.
And then I went to Cassi's birthday party, which involved funny t-shirts, awesome cake made by Lawyer Amber, and hanging out with people. Aaron said he wanted to learn to belly dance, so I broke out the coins and showed him (he wouldn't wear coins). It was a lot of fun. He's a funny kid.
I also tatted a necklace last night. All I really need to do is tie off the end, and that's that.
Also, I love Cillian Murphy. Attractive and talented.
