Monday was an awesome day. Why was it awesome? To be honest, it really didn't start out that awesome, what with the school being a bloody sauna at about half six in the morning. I was summarily booted out of my usual corner (which was, admittedly hotter than my retreat spot) so the crew could set up for the fancy Moot Court reception later in the evening. While I was down in my retreat spot (i.e. where I go when my usual corner is taken) Professor Melilli stopped by and told me that I'd made it onto the trial team next semester (if there's even going to be a team). It totally made my day.

I had lunch with Kara K. who now works in the office. We went over to the new student center to eat there because then I'd have enough time to eat and talk before my next class, which is always right after lunch. It was good times, shooting the breeze and having good girl talk. As much as I love being with the guys and hanging out with them, I haven't had nearly as much girl talk in my life as I could have, and it seems I'm getting caught up on the good times.

After classes, I sat around, alternately working on Marty's hat (for Christmas) and doing homework. Then I went to the Moot Court final round. It wasn't as awesome as I thought it'd be, but the teams were amazing. The person I'd have voted for as best oralist didn't make it, but the person who did win totally deserved it. One of the judges was from Utah - a District Court judge. I made origami toys and fed candy to the poor kid in front of me who'd had to come, and then Angela and I wolfed down (admittedly fancy) food before taking off to family home evening. Where we learned to cha cha. It was good times. When I got home, I found in my mail a law magazine (I am a law student, after all) and a comic book from Rowsdower. Out of the blue, for no special occasion (as it was his own birthday that was most recent). It was awesome. I read it today, between classes. The epitome of the fairy tale remix. I was absolutely floored and very pleased and grateful. I got to talk to Mom on the phone (I talked to Mom and Dad on Sunday, which was awesome) and then I slept.

Today was a funny day. Someone had left the divider doors open after Moot Court last night, so the 2Ls in morning legal writing wondered if we were going to get stared at by 1L section A contracts. They shut the dividers - and then we learned that the microphones from moot court were still on. So Dickhute spent the rest of the class whispering. Which was comical and annoying at the same time. All day the school was a sauna, and everyone complained. Dickhute let us out early to save us from the heat, and so I went to practice, which went well. I got free lunch during Institute (though it wasn't provided by institute) and then ran around to the bank and to see if I could find flashcards for evidence (there were none - I hope they get them in before finals). Melilli was kinda sadistic and closed the doors on us while we were in crim pro, and I totally zoned out. I think that's the closest to heatstroke I've been since I went clambering around down tombs in the Valley of the Kings the summer before I started college. Afterwards there was more rehearsal. Then I came home and chilled before belly dancing class, which was a sweet work-out. And we learned an entire dance. So I'm going to burn the music onto my laptop and then put it on my iPod so I can practice. Because it is awesome exercise.

All in all, I am feeling the relief of no more Moot Court. I got to enjoy the last of the warm weather this city's going to see for a while, and I'm feeling pretty awesome.

I should write for Heavy Noir, get that letter for Schu ready to be mailed, and hit the sack. Schu sent me notes from her Japanese class, so we're attempting to learn together. So I wrote her a bizarre bilingual letter. It'll be good times, I'm sure.

Life is happy. Tomorrow night is the powder puff football game for the law school, Thursday night is Brielyn's birthday party. I'm excited.

ETA: I'm bad at essay writing with a computer because I get distracted and my hands keep up with my distraction. I named this entry "strange endings" because, once the final round of Moot Court was done and we were eating all the fancy food, I realized that I'd never do this again. I'd never feel the adrenaline rush and panic and satisfaction of surviving moot court. It means, a month and a half from now, my law school career will be halfway over. As much as I want to be done with this hellish work, I'm pretty scared. I've been a student all my life - who knows how I'll survive as a professional.
