Day 623: Oddly good.

Today was an oddly good day.

It didn't start off very good. I remembered hearing the phone in the middle of the night, and I knew that no one calls this house that late unless things are bad. As Shaz was in SLC, I figured it was her. This morning, I figured out otherwise. Dad called - he'd had a heart attack on the plane. Luckily for him, there was a doctor in first class who happened to be armed with nitro and aspirin, so dad survived. They took him to the hospital and straight into surgery, so he'll be fine. Once he's discharged he's being taken to his boss's place to be looked after by the maid until things get better. The doctor said it was a combination of dad's chronic high pressure, the stress of work, and the added stress of one of his flights being horribly delayed. I knew Dad was old, and I knew this was possible. I didn't think today was the day, though, that it would all go down.

The rest of the day was good, though. Justin, Mom, and I washed and waxed and vacuumed out my car. Shaz came over for lunch, and we chatted. Justin and I sparred some more. We went to the clubhouse at his grandparents' place to play pool. As there were no cues, he jimmied open the janitor's closet and we dismantled a broom and played with a broom handle. It was a good series of games. I won more than I lost, which amazed me. I play well with a broom handle, but not with a cue. Figures. Afterwards, Justin and I went to the mall. B. Dalton was closed, to our dismay, but the new B&N will open near the end of the month, so we're excited. We swung by the gamestop to stare at games, and, unbeknownst to me, Justin bought me a game for my DS, which was really sweet. We came home for supper. Afterwards, Shaz came over, and we played Chinese checkers (Mom beat Justin by one move) and some UNO. It was good times - Shaz was in a great move and made us laugh, just like when she and were kids. We had fun conversation and the night was nice, so that was good. I also got a phone call from Sean back in Omaha - it was good to hear from him. He's a really awesome guy. Afterwards I gave Justin the barebones for running a WoD game (I still really, really need to buckle down and write mine) and now I need to sleep. Really sleep.

Yesterday Justin and I mostly hung out around the house while I did lame stuff like call my (hopeful) boss and put away all my clothes I brought home. We also went to see the Forbidden Kingdom, which was awesome.

Tomorrow I hope to have fun, see my friends, and game.

I hope Dad will be all right.
