Day 580: Maybe busy is better
Feb. 22nd, 2008 11:25 pmThursday was a pretty crazy day. I let myself sleep in a bit, and then I headed in to school. Had classes. A meeting at lunch that involved free food, which always makes things better. Afterwards I went and had to get my poor Shiny Nanashi corrupted with Miscrosoft Office just for that stupid memo. Really - just for the memo. Have I mentioned that I hate the memo? Well, I do. I'll work on it, but that doesn't mean I'll like it. Luckily for us, the evening class was short, so I had enough time to come home, wolf down some food, and then take off for visiting teaching. Visiting teaching was short because Halley had a meeting, but it's always good to talk to her and see her. She was sick on Sunday, and she gave Jason her cold, and he's looked like death warmed over all week. The guy's getting hit hard - he's been sick on top of having to go to court for evictions and he's had to have his deposition taken. Life is out to get him right now.
But last night I had enough time to mail some letters. I'd written a letter to Erin on Tuesday, which I grievously misplaced on Wednesday, so I didn't have time to wrap it up until Thursday. Meanwhile, I wrote a letter to Marty on Thursday, so I packaged it up as well, and had enough time to decorate the envelopes, throw them in the mail, and then dash off to help with church cleaning. Even though Seth says it's at eight thirty, turns out it's really at eight, but I helped anyway. Took along my mp3 player so I could listen to fifties music while I worked, just like I did when I cleaned as a kid with my mom around the house. It was cold - so cold that the glass cleaner I was using froze on the glass. So I had to wipe the ice off with a dry towel, at which point I inadvertently locked myself out of the building. It was good to be busy, though. Then I came back to my place and chatted to friends online before giving up and going to bed.
Today was also busy. Friday mornings are study group. Stacy was awesome and brought us homemade cinnamon rolls. We studied hard, had good times, and enough time left over to get some homework done. Classes were good - we chilled at lunch, and went to Property together. It's Sylvia's birthday on Sunday, so we're planning on taking her out to dinner next week. I stuck around after to do homework. For the first time in a very long time I'm caught up in my classes, so this weekend I can work on my memo and outlines.
Tonight was temple night, so I dashed home, ate, changed, and took off for the temple. Lots more people came than usual, and I was one of the last baptized, but that was all good. Afterwards, a bunch of people were going out - some for food, some for a movie, and some for swing dancing. As I am who I am, I picked swing dancing. I went with Aaron, the boy who asked me to the winter ball. Nice guy, not much of a dancer. I danced with Med Student Dave a few times, the guy who suggested the jaunt and was Brielyn's "date." It was good times, though, with an awesome live band. I love live music, and it was all twenties jazz, which was great.
Two busy days, and not an ounce of the restless ennui that swallows me on my other nights off. Hmmm...
But I'm glad I have some Nagi chill time to get myself back together. That's what introverts do - we can be as friendly and outgoing as the next person, but we just need a bit of time alone every day to get ourselves back into some semblance of one piece.
I'll sleep well tonight.
I also discovered that John 14 and 15 are some of the coolest chapters ever.
That was a lot of random. But good random.
