Day 472: Back Again
Jun. 14th, 2007 09:21 pmI know. Been home for more than three days and haven't updated.
I have a cold, and at times my head is fuzzy and so my will to write is somewhat sapped. I've been reading all the things I missed, and seeing people I missed.
Also, I have been working. Even more girls have been hired at the office. I wonder that the boss doesn't despair of us all.
Mom and I made it home safe, if ill.
Last night, Del, BenTen, and Sei came down to visit me. We took ourselves out to supper at the Olive Garden and then wandered the bookstores and CD stores of the mall, pretending we wanted to be entertained. Mostly I pretended I had money to spend on fun. I don't - I have a flat to furnish and forty-five grand in a year's worth of higher education to sweat over. And my father still hasn't written me. It was good to see them again. BenTen had dropped by the night before on her way home from Vegas, and we got to chat a bit, and I showed her pictures and gave her presents. I still have not seen the boys and will probably be too ill to go camping this weekend.
Today I worked, and then mother and I went to see the third Pirates movie. She didn't like it. I did, but then I do enjoy bittersweet endings.
I almost killed Genji today. After all the work my coworkers did to keep him alive, I nearly killed him on the way home. Put his fish bowl on the floor of the car and kept an eye on him to make sure he was fine, but I had to make a sudden stop and the bowl upended itself. I was horrified. For a few moments I saw him panting in a puddle, but then I turned and he was flung across the floor. I looked down and thought he was dead, because he wasn't moving, but then he was flopping all over the place, and he managed to flop himself back into the bowl, which was on its side by that time. I parked in the driveway, scooped up the bowl, ran into the kitchen and filled it with water.
He lives. Once I was sure he was fine, I turned off the car.
I'm home. I'm sure my muse will respond better when I'm not on codeine-based cough medicine.
