Yes. So I went crazy, vanished from Cyberspace, and now have reappeared, saner but not necessarily better for it. Work was a bit crazy this week. There have been mediations and depositions and much craziness. I went to the police station for the first time to deliver a letter. (What, did you think Farf and Schu finally managed to frame me for something? Brad does have my back occasionally, you know.) It's one hell of a climb. I don't even hear the din of construction anymore. Ack. But work is going well. I love my job - my bosses are totally cool, the office is laid back, but it's a different pace from school and I have to adjust. At school lectures are fifty minutes a piece and I was guaranteed some sort of mental ten-minute break every hour. Not so at work. Which is why I take my hour-long lunch very gratefully, me and the iPod or comic books or whatever other entertainment I can find. At the end of the day my brain protests. Hence the little writing and the much reading.
On an upnote, I have made some major progress on the murder mystery. And yet there is still no end in sight. I'm sure I'll come up with something. I managed to gain some ground by being stressed out. Thinking about grad school too much. But I think I've psyched myself out for that and can start getting into the grind of applying. See? Brad will always be there, but I don't always need him. In fact, I usually don't need him. He usually makes things worse. But I still get things done, and that's what counts.
Friday was fairly sedate. I learned that our office also does adoption cases. Totally random. But now I know. I drove up to Cedar right after I packed. Kissed mom goodbye and drove. The weather was fine save for some wind. Made it up in good time. Hung out in the apartment talking to Justin on the phone while Ericka showered. Then we went to get Marty and food. They went to Sonic, and I went to McDonalds, and we chilled in the apartment till Seirra was off work, and then we took off to the Grind.
I've never seen that many people in there before. I remembered plenty of the actors whom I haven't seen in years. I saw someone (Farmer John) get brown-bagged for the first time. I laughed a lot. It was hot and crowded, but we had fun. Someone once suggested I sit on Logan's lap to solve the space dilemma, but sometimes people forget how small I am. I met a new Chris. There are too many of them in this world. But oh well. Mandi and Michelle were there as well, whom I haven't seen in a while. A whole bunch of us ended up going to Denny's after the show instead of straight back to the apartment to game. Ten of us. Some ordered breakfast, some ordered sandwiches, and most of us ordered dessert. It was fun. I zonked out pretty early in the game, leaving Logan and Seirra to battle things out, then went to bed when the game ended.
Logan lent me seven more volumes of Ultimate X-Men. I read them all. Alex Summers bugs the hell out of me. I didn't realize Polaris was his girlfriend. I do love the sense of humour in characters like Iceman, Wolverine, and Spiderman. Hell yeah. Wasn't all that impressed with Secret War, but oh well. Nick Fury sorta bugs the snot out of me. I really can't explain it.
Marty also swears that Nick looks like the singer from The All-American Rejects. The rest of us agree that the two guys only look similar in the "It Ends Tonight" video, but Marty, through the machinations of crazy Casey, ended up at an AAR concert and swears that they are one and the same man and I dated him. Whatever. It embarrassed me and amused the hell out of me. And made a whole bunch of emo kids look at me funny. Oh well.
Hung out with Ericka, Megan, and Seirra today. Ericka bought herself an iPod. Then I drove home. Mom and I wrapped spring rolls together and had dinner.
It's been an eventful weekend, and a fun one. I do love my friends. But I also ate too much fried food, and the oil is hurting me. Ouch.
I love my friends. It was fun.
Now that Logan is going we'll be down a male player or two, and I may GM. I'm thinking of switching back to the Masquerade/Apocalypse/Ascension version of the World of Darkness. But I would like to GM regularly. It feels like all of my characters are the same anymore. I need to play a Malkavian, dammit.
