Yesterday was my last day of classes. I sort of didn't care. Mostly I was looking forward to seeing my parents and hanging out with them and enjoying a hell of a lot more roti prata in one go than is generally good for one person. We saved a piece for Ericka. I know she doesn't like curry, but if she doesn't eat it soon I'm going to have to eat it for her. I came home from classes, and after my parents left I just sort of hung around in a disoriented, unmotivated lull. Wrote some, but nothing really useful.

I tried to take a nap a few times, but kept failing. Sort of watched the Family Stone with Del, but not really. Downloaded a whole more load of music than I needed. I love Steve Conte's voice, by the way. Lots. Need to find some of his none-anime music, although he does wonderful things with Yoko Kanno. Also downloaded some Sakamoto Ma'aya, as well as a load of hippie music I haven't heard since I was a kid. Took a bit of a nap. Jeopardy wasn't on, having been displaced by basketball, so we ended up watching an episode of Heroes on Sci Fi and then taking off to the Grind early to get some seats. Even though we were there early we still managed to not get great seats because loads of other people were there before us. One more show from them before the semester is over. Ian Durant was there, of course, and was a huge hit with the ladies, as usual. I think we've come to the agreement that he is very attractive but is too aware of it, and so it's just best to observe from a distance. Although Del managed to get a bit up close and personal by almost crashing into him (entirely unintentional, of course).

Afterwards, me, Logan, Seirra, and BenTen settled into the den for about four hours of Vampire. It was one of the best games we've had in a long time. Kari is turning out to be one of my most vicious characters. She's ruthless and not very nice but manages to have the vestiges of dry humor that existed in most of my other characters. Lots of my characters were scary and ruthless, too, but hardly to the same degree, and had a certain side-dish of insanity and quirkiness to liven them up. I didn't realize I could play an honestly serious character. I want my mage back from Rowsdower. And I think I want to take on the challenge of a Malkavian sometime. I think I could do it. Maybe. I would probably be a horribly violent, unamusing Malkavian. Hmmm. I can write psychos. Wonder if I could play one. I had a hell of a good time at that game.

All day I didn't care that it was the last day of classes, and suddenly, in the middle of the Grind while we were sitting and waiting for the show to start (Logan and his friend sat with us) it hit me. No more classes. For NINE MONTHS. No lectures, no homework, no nothing. Just a couple of papers and a couple of tests and I'm out of here for a long, long time. Nagi will say a true farewell to academia for the first time.

This morning I was awakened by a host of Japanese people outside the window. I think they might be helping Shingo and Aya move or something. Sure sounded like a lot of them. But while I was huddled comfortably under my nest of warm blankets it came to me. My Dickens paper. I had a few vague notions about it for a while, but a solid, complex thesis (one that will hopefully cost me fifteen pages at the least) finally came to me. I leapt out of bed, hit the shower, and then crashed out on my couch to scribble down a handwritten thesis thing for my paper. On long papers there can be a couple of paragraphs to explain the thesis. After all, in a 4000-level paper the thesis had better be complex and complexity takes more than a paragraph. Once that was all written out I trawled the treacherous waters of JSTOR and Projectmuse to find articles. I now have eight sources for Dickens to go along with my seven sources for Shakespeare. Of course, now I have to read the entirety of the articles so I can figure out what to do with them. As well as go through and mark up my novels again for useful places. That's going to take a lot of work. I'll have to alternate between fun and work, but I can get it done.

Brad can just watch me now!
