Day 204: Onslaught of the nerds!
Oct. 7th, 2005 09:12 amOkay, so I haven't been sleeping well, and it's been making me do weird things, and napping in the middle of the day isn't helping me get to bed at night, but I think yesterday I returned to peak productivity levels. I searched for Rowsdower's mage book with little success after lunch (and staring at Nick for an hour because I could) and didn't go see Rodney (there was some WEIRD tension going on there for a while) but I got ALL my homework done before I did anything fun. Yup - read Lysistrata and Ligeia before taking a nap and then going in for some mage reading. Lysistra is damn hilarious - of course, it is a comedy, so there you go. I was surprised at how dirty it was, though. It's the first play with a lot of stage direction and man, okay, that was some imagery I could live without. But considering the ancient Greeks' belief that women were hornier than men, women cutting men off to stop a war is just hilarious. I loved it. Ligeia was a little creepy, and it really didn't help that I kept thinking about Nick while I was reading it. But...success! I got all of the necessary homework done before taking a nap, and when I woke up to poke through the mage book I didn't think of him at all.
Rowsdower had come by the night before to help me build a mage despite the lack of a mage book, so today after he found the book I read through it to decide the last vital pieces of my character. Because I've never really played a mage before I decided to keep it low-key and safe. Luka is a street child, and actually a girl despite her tomboyish appearances. She's a fortune teller for money and makes most of her survival helping a bookie run a betting business. I like her a lot. Rodney and Marty came by after supper so we sat around deciding things for the new campaign, leveling up and taking boons and whatnot, and then Rodney and Rowsdower regaled us with the old tales of Pell and the Crew. It sounds like it's going to be an awesome campaign. I really do enjoy gaming - it's so much fun when you're with your friends, sitting around and being weird and laughing. Rowsdower, it turns out, has very narrow shoulders (whereas mine are very wide) and can fit into some of my jackets. He can fit into the black button jacket - which currently only has three buttons on it - and he can wear my pretty Victorian frock coat. And look better in it than I do. I was mortified. Still am. He doesn't quite have the hips and doesn't know how to sway his hips when he walks to make it look completely female...but damn. Yeah. I should cut my hair, bind my chest and be done with it. I always said I'd die if any of my guy friends could fit into my jeans or something...but the Laura Ashley coat...now BenTen has even more insidious plans to buy him female clothing with me as the size dummy. *silent scream*
We watched a couple episodes of Buffy, the one where Giles sings and the one that's silent. They were awesome. We had lots of weird girly fun and whatnot. BenTen and Del retreated, leaving me and Seirra to mourn our loneliness. We've sworn off booze and men (not that we ever had booze to start with, but it's the principle of the thing) and it worked - for about half an hour before we started rehashing all the good-looking men we'd like to hang out with.
Hanging out. Yes, kiddies, that's what they're calling it now.
The campus has been overrun by the high schoolers who are here for the Shakespeare festival. A bunch of underagers, all melodramatic, running around being loud and obnoxious with underaged girls dressed to impressed. Some of the fugly freshman boys are dogs enough to hit on said girls, too. I'm just annoyed because they take over the cafeteria and all of the other food places. Like I said, obnoxious. At least Josh and I managed to exude enough weirdness at dinner that they didn't sit with us. We college kids are going to have to band together seating-wise if we don't want to be swallowed up by widgets.
I cannot call them midgets because they're taller than me.
But hopefully this weekend will be full of gaming goodness. Del has off tomorrow, so maybe we'll drive up to the big C and have some fun or something. That's my plan.

I've been 100% productive.
Somewhere in the back of my mind, Brad is throwing a party.
And Schuldig is trying to get him drunk.
