Day 150: Hunting and seeking
May. 9th, 2005 07:02 pmWent job hunting today. It looks like my best bet is as a cashier at Target. It took us two hours there (because mom is awesome and went with me on the application hunt) because right after filling out the applications online they interview you straight away. There was a technical hold-up with my application because it refused to print, but in the end I made it through the interviews all right. According to the lady at the lab place they only send you in for the pre-employment drug test if they're going to hire you, and since I took the test it looks like a go. My dream job (small-time job, not career choice) has always been a book store, but B. Dalton isn't hiring so my best shot is at the Little Professor Bookstore, but they take resumes and not applications so I have to write one for the first time. Not easy, let me tell you.
Been sorta fuzzy-headed due to the winds, and sort of tired - I think it's the difference in altitude. But I don't mind. It's good being home with Mom, Dad and the rat-dog. She woke me up this morning by stepping in my eye.
Mom took me grocery shopping after dinner so I'll be all stocked for food while she and Dad are gone. I'm not a terrible cook, and I ought to be able to feed and care for myself while they're gone. Depends on how soon I start work. I'll be spending most of this summer reading and writing. More writing than reading, I think. And going to see friends. And maybe learning Japanese.
I hope you girls are okay up there. And Gamila, if you're looking for a job try Target because it looks like they're desperate to hire, and the high schools aren't out yet so we have a better chance.
