Day 140: The Last Leg...
Apr. 18th, 2005 08:27 pmYup. This is it. The last leg of the semester. It's crunch time again. Friday night I was up fairly late working on stuff for the paper. Saturday night I was up so horribly late that the caffeine still hadn't worn off and when I forced myself into bed the sun was coming up. I think the caffeine was still in my system and I was up before eleven, showered and dressed and doing some work.
Del came by when she got out of church, and we girls decided to take ourselves up the canyon. We listened to John Denver and the Chieftains. Part of the road was washed out and Del got her car all muddy like she'd been off-roading. It was surprisingly snowy further up the mountain, and we ran around this hard-packed, eight-foot snow bank like a bunch of maniacs. Watched a guy biff it off his snow-mobile.
We had a little picnic like I've never had before. The girls got sandwiches, but as I'd eaten lunch at the cafeteria I just snuck a share of cookies. Really good chocolate chip pumpkin cookies. Really soft and moist and delicious. Turns out Smith's sells raspberries and blackberries, so the girls got a stash, along with some whipped cream and we talked and ate and had fun. It was really relaxing and peaceful up in the mountains. Quiet. I never paid attention to traffic sounds at home, but this year my room is nearer the street and the parking lot, so I hear cars a lot. Now I know how Jackie felt getting car headlights in her window in the middle of the night. Even with the drapes drawn. Then we went by a river, and Del took off her shoes and clambored around in the water and mud. I found a reed, but no non-evergreen leaves (needles) with which to make it into a buzzer/whistle thing. We hid in the park, too, in the giant metal tube that water is meant to go through but hasn't for the past ten years or so. It was fun in there because it echoed. I think our evil cackles dissuaded any little children from barging in on our girl talk.
We were all beat by the time we got back, so instead of visiting Panda for D&D we hid in BenTen's room and watched "Ever After." Once that was done I retreated to my room.
Erin came by. She'd gone home on Friday becuase her elder brother was so sick on his mission that they had to send him home. She seemed a little shaken up - for Erin, at any rate. She's a fairly placid girl and I'll wager her rope is a LOT longer than mine. My rope is actually quite long before I take seriously drastic action, but I threaten quite freely. :D
Today, I discovered that the convenience store sells Jelly Belly jellybeans. I've been slowly making my way through a bag of buttered popcorn beans ever since.
Heh heh.
Doing more homework, but needed a break from Paradise Lost.
Who needs a break from Paradise?
Lit students.
And today, Del made us a new in phrase. Rather than full-out insulting one, all one has to say (and best works with another female): "That's what stairs are for."
Go Del! Wittiness points for Del!
Gotta Go.

Edit: the dorms are horrible hot. Except for the spot next to my open window, which is horribly cold.
And I just found the most bizarre, funny line ever.
"'M sorry I died. Won't happen again."
