Or not, if you're me and too small and promised various people that you wouldn't expend some major fun energy running around a circle and moshing like a madperson. But I had an awesome time at the concert. Flogging Molly is a seriously cool band. I've said it once and I'll say it again: any band that can have a song about Oliver Cromwell is awesome. The opening bands were all right, but me, Anne and Panda learned our lesson and moved out of range of the mosh pit before Flogging Molly came out. But it was loads of fun, even though I seemed to have developed a toxic layer of sweat, beer, guinness and cigarette ash from the rest of the concert goers.

The drive down went really well - we had fun, made it through the gorge safely, and Panda was a good driver. We hit the dollar store and stocked up on snacks before we left, but it was all in good fun. We managed to listen to all six CD's in the changer on the way down. Although for a while there through the gorge there was a white dodge neon that contained some stupid girls, and we all sat there considering ways to arm your car and what weapons to use...I was quite proud of myself with my SAM's comment...heh heh heh...going to have to use that sometime in a story. I suddenly find myself going the way of the Dagaz and writing death requests, but it's fun.

We hit Benten's house, saw her mom, and then I went with Panda and Anne to Panda's favorite magic shop. It was run by this awesome old man named Earl who used to be a circus clown and could do some really awesome magic...so Panda bought a quarter squeeze trick after Earl showed us a pretty cool one. When we made it back to Benten's we ran into her brother, ate a fun small Mexican restaurant and then headed off to get some good spots at the concert. While we were waiting Benten and I had a dorky moment that involved staring up at the anime clips they were playing in the overhead screen, but the concert itself was seriously awesome. The first two bands were sorta lame, but Flogging Molly itself was seriously awesome. The chick who played the violin and tin whistle...just...wow. And the guy who played the accordion, well, that was pretty awesome, too.

I slept for half of the drive up and drove the other half, but it was all good, although I consumed far more junk food than is good for any person. But then I got the bright idea to buy a soda in Mesquite...didn't open it till we were home, and it exploded all over my desk, so I had to clean it, so now my laptop is a little computer sticky and I'm sorta nervous because some of the liquid made it into the screen and the bottom right hand portion of the screen is glowing suspiciously. Hmmm...

But it was an awesome weekend altogether. It was Aya-chan's first concert, which was all good...wasn't sure what I thought of all the sluttily-dressed girl walking around the gallery floor, but Benten was right, it was Vegas and there was no way those chicks actually got into the mosh pit. There were some guys in kilts, one guy in the Prince Charlie get-up, but my dad's right, most good Scotsmen roll over in their graves every time a goth kid puts on kilt regardless of the fact that said kid may be able to claim some Scottish heritage...which also confused me, since kilts are Scottish and Flogging Molly is Irish...ah, such is life.
