Day 530: kismet or serendipity or unme or what?

Today was a surprisingly good day. We got out of Contracts early, because our poor professor had a doctor's appointment, so I got to watch Bleach and other things. I got called on in class in Civ Pro, which was awkward, because I hadn't been paying attention (partially because it's Civ Pro, partially because whenever I hear my first name it's always the other student with the same name the professor is calling. Luckily, I had done the practice problems for homework, so I had the answers all written out. I got the first question right, and the second question wrong, but I sounded confident and eloquent enough that the other students believed me. I still have my debate mojo, it seems.

After school I went to hang out with the Sister Missionaries. We went to play Life with Jessie, which I'd never played before. I totally won - started off as a lawyer, ended as a doctor, won a lawsuit along the way, and had loads of fun. We made it really fun - like when we had part-time jobs in college, we had to name actual jobs. We described our husbands and named our kids. Oddly enough I ended up with the most kids. It was a lot of fun. Jessie's shy, but she's a great girl, and she's pretty open with us. I like her a lot.

And then I did homework. Fell asleep for far too long, woke up, bolted down dinner over an episode of Bleach, and then did homework. I talked to my parents on the phone, which was cool, and then, biggest surprise of all...I got asked out on a date! That's right. A real, bona-fide date where a guy's going to pick me up in his car and take me out for dinner and a movie. First one in twenty-one years. Sorta sad, huh? I'm excited and sorta nervous. I kinda jumped the gun on the phone, accepting before he'd properly asked, but we both took it in stride. (Thomas asked, in case anyone was wondering.) So...dinner and a movie Friday night. And then I think we're going to see his little brothers and sisters in their school play (his sisters having invited me to see the play when I was over at dinner a couple of weekends ago) on Saturday night. I'll have to wait and see. Maybe I should ask Monika.

But yeah. Today has been good. I got my homework done. And I'm going to take a stab at nanowrimo, though I am doomed to fail.

yeah! a date! It is nice to get asked out. I hope you have tons of fun! Hope you figure out your sleeping thing soon and enjoy law school. Are you going home for thanksgiving?

No - I'm getting tests for the sleeping thing during Thanksgiving break, and then one of the boys in my study group invited all of us single people to have Thanksgiving with his family. I'm going home for Christmas, and that's about as much as I get till I see them again over the summer.
