I totally am a good wife. Just sayin'. I'm the wife who can do three things at once - fold laundry, scan a seventy-four page document, and watch an episode of Supernatural.

This week was better than the end of last week. I'm happy. I've come to this conclusion about Idaho: I don't like living here. I'm not sure, despite Cody's best assurances, that I ever will. But I'm happy living with him, and that's what really matters. We won't be here forever, but I'll be with him forever, so that's okay. It was kinda slow earlier in the week at work, quiet, not many loans, most of them purchases that I can tackle really quickly (refinances take a little longer). I did some interesting legal research, and I learned how to process checks in Quickbooks, which I guess isn't all that important or legally significant, but it's a new skill, and it's a fun, sort of repetitive mindless chore, which I am more than okay with doing. Also, I finally got a key to the office, so I don't have to stand on the doorstep in the cold and knock and hope someone will hear me and let me in before I lose an extremity or two.

I had planned on getting lots of writing done this week. That's my new plan - scarf down food at my desk while I'm doing research or something that doesn't require a lot of two-handed coordination, and then spend my actual lunch hour working on writing...something. My sister encouraged me to sign up for Wattpad, which is basically an amateur fic archive (and yes, it even has fanfic) but the stories are downloadable and readable on iPads and other tablet devices, which is kinda fun. Like any other place where I've posted stories, I have no real hope of becoming a very popular writer. I did, however, give into the sad trend and posted the one vampire story I wrote back in college (absolutely no sparkling, guaranteed). I thought I was all out of vampire stories, and then I remembered the one I wrote in law school, and apparently this is a pretty sad trend for me. I reckon I'll post what short stories I have on there for now - I have nothing of novel quality I'd even dream of seeing up there - but whatever stories I wrote as gifts I will not post. Since they were gifts and intended for a single audience - their recipients.

It's been super fun chatting to my sister about writing. We never really did bond much in high school, but as kids we bonded over stories - telling each other stories. When I was really little, she'd write me stories, plink them out on Mom's old typewriter (before it broke), and she'd even illustrate them for me, which was even better, because she's an incredible artist. In fact, she's working on some art for one of my novels in progress now, and I'm super excited to see what she comes up with. She was the first one who introduced me to fanfic. Her very first piece was about super Mario, and her second piece was about the Dark Crystal, and I fell in love with the picture of Kira - with her wings - that my sister drew for me. I don't know if we saved those stories or if they got lost in one of our many moves, but they made me happy. I've been plowing through Season Nine Smallville (woohoo! Callum Blue as Zod and Julian Sands as Jor-El!) and she's gotten into Supernatural. I know so many people who are fans, and I'd never really watched it. So I watched the pilot episode. Scary. Like a horror flick in under an hour. Awesome. Although I about laughed myself silly when I realized Dean Winchester is played by the same guy who was Lana Lang's evil boyfriend in Season 4 Smallville, Jason Teague.

I had all kinds of crazy errands to run on my lunch breaks this week, mostly because I'm trying to sell my flat in Omaha and we're trying to do all this paperwork long distance. I went over to Adelina's house to get stuff notarized because she's a notary, and I met her parents and her little girl, who has been ill for maybe two weeks now, poor thing. Cody has had a cold this week as well, and I'm a bit nervous I'm going to or already have caught it from him. So...I really didn't get any good writing done. But I worked on that crochet doll dress, which is coming along slowly but surely.

Thursday night we went to Kenpo because poor Cody had another test he needed to study for on Tuesday night. Herbie had to duck out halfway through and let Ricky take over. Besides Ricky, it was just me, Cody, and Carl, and we had a good time, learned some good stuff. Poor Carl took kind of a beating - and a heck of a lot of teasing about his new girlfriend.

Friday was perhaps the best day ever. I mean, I had to stay late at work, which kinda sucked, but them's the breaks. When I came home, I hung out with Cody for a bit, and then we decided to party. We used the awesome gift card my mom gave me for my birthday and went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. Only because it was Friday night the line was over an hour long, but the day was really nice, so we sat outside on a bench and entertained ourselves by playing Angry Birds on my iPhone. Yes, Angry Birds. I downloaded one of the free ones on a whim and played it a bit. I can see why it's addicting, because you get so bloody frustrated and determined to kill those little pigs. We made a pretty good team, learning from each other, forming strategies together. I'm pretty sure I'd never have made it as far as we did alone. While we were eating, because my husband is awesome, we started doing free-form RP. Cody ran me through a post-apocalyptic robot chase through Salt Lake City, and I ran him through a Mage: The Awakening scenario. We went to Leo's and sat and played for a bit while our food digested, and then when I'd run out of ideas we met up with Cody's dad, who gave us a generous stash of quarters.

And then we proceeded to behave like a pair of teenagers. We played enough DDR to probably kill most people, and then played Battle Bubbles or whatever that game is. We played all the way through a shooting game called Area 51 (I'm pretty awful at those games) and then battled at Soul Caliber, where I only won fights by button-mashing. It was ridiculous amounts of fun.

This morning we slept in, and we cleaned house - did a bit of laundry, I threw ingredients into a crock pot for stew - and then went and got my car looked at because the one front wheel has been a bit wobbly since I bit it into a curb on an icy day a couple of weeks ago. We went grocery shopping together - Winco is kind of a zoo on a Saturday, but it wasn't as awful as it was last Saturday. We had lunch out of Subway - courtesy, again, of Mum and her generous birthday presents in food gift cards - and then we went shooting. It was a beautiful day, so blue and warm that I could drive with my window down and go out without a sweater or a jacket. Just about everyone was shooting - you could hear gunfire all through the hills. But it was awesome. I put over two hundred rounds through Baby, my little handgun, and I practiced a bit with Bessie, Cody's .22 rifle. Then we cleaned guns. Once gun cleaning was done, I set about folding laundry, and scanning in my novel. We attempted to go to the temple, but we were a bit too late and it was closed.

So now Cody is falling asleep on the couch after trying to do homework.

It's been a good day, though.

I love Cody, and I'm happy being married to him. We're going to be here longer than originally planned, but until Cody figures out something that will make him happy in the future, trying to choose something now that might make him (and consequently, me and our children) miserable is a foolish thing to do.

Life is okay. I'm okay. Not so crazy unhappy, unlike last week.

Although we're losing an hour of sleep tonight. Not gonna lie - that's not cool.

Still, the last couple of days have been awesome, and that's what life is about - working hard so every now and again we get a couple of days like the past two days.
